Job ResponsibilitiesAs part of a team, contribute to drafting the 7th Kakadu National Park Management Plan.Use your skills and experience to analyse material with a view to improving the next management plan.Contribute to the preparation of staff and community consultation meetings, including coordination and logistics before the meetings, presenting material at meetings and capturing feedback.Coordinate the delivery of a Country-based planning project across Kakadu National Park.Prepare materials for the new plan suitable for legal review and provision to the Board of Management for clearance.Prepare public communication materials and other formal documents required to finalise the management plan process.Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of the 7th Kakadu National Park Management Plan.Minimum RequirementsThe successful applicant must:
Hold a current Apply First Aid Certificate or have the ability to obtain this qualification.Hold and maintain a current manual driver's licence and ability to drive a 4WD vehicle.Have the ability to obtain and maintain a working with children and vulnerable people check.Wear an official uniform supplied by the department, including during field operations (as applicable), in accordance with the department's uniform policy.Wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures.What We Are Looking ForKnowledge and ExperienceAn awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people in remote locations and the ability to develop relationships based on mutual trust, respect, and consideration of values and culture, including the ability to consult and negotiate sensitively and effectively with Bininj/Mungguy.Experience and qualifications in protected area planning is highly desirable.Skills and CapabilitiesDemonstrate an awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people in remote locations, and a capacity to contribute sensitively and effectively to the joint management of a World Heritage National Park.Demonstrate experience in protected area planning with an emphasis on cultural and natural heritage.Demonstrate experience in delivering and supporting effective project management.Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships and work sensitively with a range of stakeholders.Demonstrate strategic thinking including conceptual and analytical skills and show sound judgment and flexible problem-solving abilities.Demonstrate well-developed oral and written communication skills including the ability to consult and negotiate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people and produce clear written drafts of management plan sections and other materials.Work collaboratively and effectively as a member of a small team.Desirable QualificationsQualifications in protected area management, policy and/or planning.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
