Duration: Temporary position from July 22, 2024, to October 11, 2024 About The Role Assess development applications such as material change of use, lot reconfiguration (subdivision), and building work against Council's Planning Scheme. Provide timely and informed recommendations for development applications, incorporating policy, legislation, and agency responses. Collaborate with Design Services to process operational work applications. Evaluate applications for compliance assessment, including landscaping and survey plans. Prepare detailed reports on development assessment matters for Council. Provide consistent advice on land use planning to internal and external stakeholders. Contribute actively to special planning projects as required. About You Degree or post-graduate qualification in planning recognized by the Planning Institute of Australia. Demonstrated experience in statutory planning or development assessment, with the ability to resolve complex planning issues. Knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to development assessment in Queensland. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective report writing and stakeholder engagement. Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining positive community relations. Understanding of local government roles and service functions. Understanding of planning issues specific to the Gympie Region. Qualifications or experience in natural resources, landscape architecture, architecture, or urban design.
