Council is embracing its position as a growth area and is striving to create a thriving and connected community. We are therefore looking for a suitably qualified and experienced town planner to help support this growth in a contract planning position to cover maternity leave.
Position Overview We are seeking a qualified candidate for a short fixed-term contract to cover a temporary leave of absence. The Planning Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the planning and development activities of Council. The region provides a range of diverse planning issues including those associated with the River Murray, urban and rural interface, population growth and infrastructure demand. As a result of this diversity, the Development Team work on a range of interesting and challenging development applications.
Qualifications A relevant and recognized Planning qualification is essential together with a strong knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act, Planning and Design Code and the operation of the Development Assessment Portal.
Responsibilities Reporting to the Team Leader Development, responsibilities of the position include:
Assessing a diverse range of planning applications Preparing reports and attending Council Assessment Panel meetings Providing specialist planning advice and working positively with applicants, developers, consultants and the community to achieve progressive development outcomes Undertaking inspections and investigations in relation to compliance Responding to customer enquiries and external organisations regarding planning, development and enforcement matters Demonstrating high level skills in communication, customer service, time management, problem solving along with the ability to work as part of a team You will be:

The position is offered as a full time 12 month contract in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council's current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $93,645 to $97,770 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
