ABOUT THE ROLE We are searching for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our OpenDoor team as a Planning Director. This is a Full-Time position based in Sydney. This role plays a crucial part in supporting WPP's mission to deliver consistency, delivery excellence and best in class service for Amazon in every country across its diverse businesses, including XCM, Prime Video, and RMI.
RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the interrogation of client briefs, understanding both business and communications objectivesMaintain engagement with media partners to maintain knowledge of the media landscape and understanding of core media principles and the capabilities of each media touchpointUnderstand internal product teams including GroupM product and service teams to ensure you have an understanding about their offerings and relevance to our client challengesIdentify and define audiences that drive outcomes for campaign briefsReport on audience media consumption trends and habits and identify new and interesting opportunities to connect brands to audiencesDeliver in channel ideation and tactics within campaign planningLead the creation of consumer journeys maps across paid, owned, earned and shared mediaUnderstand and apply media planning principles (e.g., scheduling, flighting, recency, effective reach theories, seasonality, market prioritisation, roles of all communication channels) and strong ability to utilise agency and industry tools to enhance and support planned recommendationLead planning responses to briefWork with the strategy team to create actionable comms tasksAddress those comms tasks with the relevant roles of media/channelExplore the tactics within each channel that unlock the short- and long-term objectivesEnsure all work is measurable back to brand and business outcomeRecommend sufficiency of investments within channel to ensure effective use of channelsUnderstand marketing science and how it influences decision making with media planningDeliver internal thought leadership to the planning and client teamsRecommend innovation through media and emerging channels within brainstormsCreate measurement frameworks and learning agendas to ensure media and recommendation effectivenessUnderstand how to connect data and technology into new approach to planning within client brief processLEADERSHIP Motivate the team to achieve individual, team and organizational goalsDevelop and train team members to ensure they reach their potentialEnsure new team members are onboarded effectivelyEmpower team members with skills to improve their confidence, product knowledge, and communication skillsConduct fortnightly 1:1 check-ins, annual Career Conversations and Annual PerformanceCreate and foster a cohesive team environment through team activities and cultural momentsQUALIFICATIONS Advanced knowledge and skills within Media Planning with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organizationRequires a minimum of 8 years of experienceRelevant qualification in Media or MarketingExperience leading Projects, preferably with a qualification in Project ManagementBONUS POINTS Experience within Retail, Entertainment and/or TechnologyAbility to craft, size and justify audience definitions with limited first-party dataPassion for narrative writing and persuasive argumentsAbility to go wide and deep: no task too small, no challenge too bigBENEFITS OF OPENDOOR Unparalleled Access: Gain direct experience working with one of the world's most innovative and influential companiesMentorship & Training: Receive guidance from experienced professionals at both WPP and AmazonCutting-Edge Technology: Utilize industry-leading tools and platforms, including WPP OpenData-Driven Environment: Develop your analytical skills and contribute to data-driven decision makingGlobal Impact: Be part of a team that is shaping the future of marketing on a global scaleApply now and send your CV via the Link.
