The Role
We are seeking a proactive and data-driven Data Analyst to support our merchandising function at Oroton as Planning Analyst.
This newly created role will focus on gathering, analysing, and interpreting data from various sources to inform key business decisions and drive performance improvements.
The ideal candidate will thrive on self-learning and possess a strong curiosity for data.
They will have strong analytical and problem solving capabilities and be able to effectively communicate a broad range of information and results to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities in the role will include but not be limited to:
Perform fact-based data driven analysis, and modelling on significant amounts of data, for purposes of turning insights into actionable information required to support key business decisions.Create and prepare reports and dashboards which draw meaningful business insights relating to inventory, sales, promotions and performance.Identify trends and create forecast models to support business performance.Identify software solutions which can support business improvements and drive the business to be at the forefront of innovation and AI.Build new models to drive how promotional activity is managed at Oroton – identifying trends, patterns and elasticity curves which drive business decisions.Utilising multiple data points, use data to assist in the development of a promotional calendar which aligns to budget and ensures compliance in trade law.Develop a pricing benchmarking tool to assist with forecasting sales and margin impacts.Work with the supply chain team to analyse and recommend replenishment allocations to optimise business performance.Build inventory life cycle management tools, location analysis and pricing modelling.Review health metrics across the reporting suite and present opportunities to redefine these metrics and the insights they drive.Create weekly/monthly reporting and dashboards which can be used by multiple stakeholders across the business.Extracting data across multiple platforms – including Power BI, M3, Y2, Big Commerce, WMS, data lakes and other ad hoc systems and tools (experience across these tools is not essential, however we are looking for a candidate who thrives on self-learning and has a natural curiosity for data and drawing insights). As this is a newly created position, there is an opportunity to reframe the way data is analysed and presented to the business.
Our Merchandising function is driving transformation within the business' operations and an agile thinker who works well amongst evolution and development will thrive in this role.
4+ years' experience in data analysis and reporting.A background in finance and/or merchandising.Advanced Excel capabilities.The ability to translate data to digestible format for key stakeholders.A passion for problem solving and an ability to learn new skills to find the accurate solution.Proficiency in SQL, R and/or Python.The ability to drive a trade culture across stakeholders and identify strategic growth opportunities.An exceptional attention to detail and communication skills (verbal/written).An analytical mind, business acumen & problem-solving attitude.The ability to work independently and as a member of a team.The ability to learn new applications/programs and upskill your team.Leadership skills to drive change, negotiate and seek support.
