This role ensures community voices shape strategic plans that align with local needs and broader Council goals. Based in Bairnsdale with travel across the shire, you'll support community engagement, oversee the Place Planning team, and build partnerships to drive local development.In this role, you'll:Design and develop district-specific Place Plans integrated with Council's broader strategiesGuide the Place Planning team in their work and professional developmentLead community engagement initiatives, building strong networks and supportServe as a representative of the Shire, advocating for community prioritiesThis is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Bairnsdale with hybrid working arrangements available.Minimum RequirementsRelevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial relevant workplace experience in community development, community engagement or equivalentHigh level knowledge of public participation and community engagement methodology and processes including IAP2Experience in the development of high level strategic social and community plans that integrate with a broader existing Strategic frameworkAbility to manage and lead a small team and build a positive team culture that reflects the values of the organisationUnderstanding of Local Government operations, in particular knowledge of integrated planning and the ability to communicate this both internally and externallyDemonstrated consideration for customers in the way organizational processes are planned, designed and deliveredIf successful, you will need to undertake a police check, hold a current employee type Working With Children Check and you must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
