The City Strategy Department at the City of Kingston envisions and champions a future where people and the environment thrive. Within this department, the Urban Design and Place team champion the creation of great places for people within our activity centres and areas of strategic change. As Council's lead voice in urban design and strategic level placemaking, we advocate, facilitate and educate to create liveable, vibrant places and spaces.
The RoleWe are seeking an experienced, place-focused professional to join the Urban Design and Place team in the role of Place Manager - Strategic Projects. Reporting to the Team Leader Urban Design and Place and combining knowledge of urban planning, urban design and place making, you will be:
Identifying and leading transformative place making projects within key activity centres and urban renewal areasDeveloping visions for strategic sites and precincts, to deliver on our structure plans and related strategiesAdvocating for a holistic place-based approach to city shaping public and private investment within our cityCollaborating broadly with internal teams and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities for integrated place and design outcomesAbout YouWe are looking for someone with:
Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated capacity to develop strong relationships, building understanding within the community and positively influence and negotiate outcomesExperience in the development and implementation of Structure Plans, Urban Design frameworks or similar place-based strategies or master plansHighly developed project planning and delivery skills with proven capacity to guide and implement complex major projects and to navigate the political environmentA strong desire for collaboration, learning and sharingTertiary Qualification in urban design, urban planning, landscape architecture or a related fieldAbility to demonstrate the City of Kingston's values of:We make a difference,We show care and respectWe take pride in our workWe are better togetherWhat We Can OfferThis is a full-time permanent position. The salary for this position starts at $107,531.32 (Band 7) per annum plus superannuation.
