The Opportunity
At APA, our purpose is simple: to strengthen communities through responsible energy. We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Pipeline Engineer to join us in our Infrastructure Engineering team in Brisbane or Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Team Discipline Lead - Pipelines, you will play a key role in industry leading engineering design, technical document preparation, package engineering, construction and commissioning engineering activities throughout the delivery of projects for new assets and upgrades to existing pipelines, end of line facilities and interconnecting plant and equipment. The role will offer the successful candidate exposure to design of natural gas, hydrogen and carbon dioxide opportunities as the energy industry transitions away from coal.
Key Responsibilities Participate as an integral member of a design team as a Pipeline Engineer for APA's growth projects. Undertake preliminary stress analysis and reviews including model creation and calculations. Undertake preliminary flow induced vibration analysis and review third party reports regarding FIV. Assist with the preparation of design calculations and documentation for Prefeasibility, FEED and Detail Design Phases. Ensure engineering and design documentation prepared by APA, external engineering service providers, or vendors meet project/stakeholder requirements, statutory and licence requirements. May be required to contribute to pipeline related packages such as linepipe, MIJ, valves and actuators, high strength fittings. Your Background Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Civil Engineering admitting to corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia or equivalent (Required). Demonstrated experience in design for gas transmission pipelines and stations in Australia, along with working knowledge of gas industry equipment such as valves, actuators or pipe traps. Chartered or Registered Professional Engineer (Preferred and eligible for admission). Knowledge of hydrogen pipeline design to ASME B31.12 (Preferred but not essential). Knowledge and practical use of Australian and International Pipeline and related design Standards (AS2885, ASME B31.3, B31.8, and B31.12). Must have knowledge and exposure to associated Australian and International reference standards. Knowledge and practical use of Australian and International Equipment and related Standards (API 6D, API 5L, AS 3862).
