About the Physiotherapy Department The Physiotherapy Department comprises approximately 112 EFT staff at the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, and the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.
A physiotherapy clinical service is provided seven days per week, 12 hours per day to acute and aged care inpatient areas, as well as outpatient and community services.
About the role The primary focus of this role is to grow education capability across the Physiotherapy Department using pedagogical principles of adult learning.
Apply theory to education practice, consult on education issues, and engage in educational scholarshipEmbed evidenced based education methods into curriculum design, teaching and learning activities, program assessment and evaluationAct as a resource and support for staff regarding education mattersPublic dissemination of education work & innovations, building on current evidence, theoretical frameworks, and best practices.Contribute to coordination and oversight of Austin Health clinical education model for physiotherapy students.Contribute to planning and development of ongoing physiotherapy clinical placement models for physiotherapy students at Austin Health.Provide holistic patient care across a broad range of services in the acute, subacute, or outpatient settingsBe accountable for the clinical competency of early career physiotherapists / supervisees / physiotherapy studentsEnsure connection to and credibility with clinical staff on site and gain an understanding of the challenges and opportunities for clinical educative initiatives for each siteContribute to graduate entry curriculum development with our university partners in line with contemporary clinical practiceIdentify emerging and important questions in health professionals' clinical educationAbout you Physiotherapist currently registered for practice in Australia (AHPRA)A commitment to Austin Health values: our actions show we care; we bring our best; together we achieve; we shape the futureSignificant experience in teaching early career physiotherapists as well as undergraduate and postgraduate studentsSignificant exposure to pedagogical theory and principles of adult learningSignificant physiotherapy experience of working in a tertiary level hospitalProven capacity to successfully work as part of a multidisciplinary teamProven capacity to successfully work to enhance the physiotherapy team culture and environmentCommitment to ongoing education / postgraduate educationDemonstrated initiative, response to constructive feedback, problem-solving skills, and flexibilityWorking at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
