THE OPPORTUNITY This role contributes to the maintenance of the physical security environment with ASIS overseas and in Australia. ASIS is seeking highly motivated and well-organised professionals to provide high-quality physical security advice in accordance with Government standards, policy and procedures. The Physical Security Officers deliver specialist security risk management services and conduct activities in support of security outcomes.
To be successful in these roles, you will have excellent representation and interpersonal skills, sound judgment and a proven track record in conducting investigations. Your knowledge of security practices along with an ability to develop and maintain significant customer and stakeholder relationships, including liaison with internal and external clients will be an advantage in responding to the requirement of this role.
Whilst Canberra based, these positions involve travel to a broad range of domestic and overseas locations and sometimes at short notice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS AND TASKS Outlined below are the key areas of responsibility for the Physical Security officer role:
Provide high quality physical security advice in accordance with Government standards, policy and procedures; Deliver specialist security risk management services and conduct activities in support of security outcomes, including: security threat, vulnerability and risk assessments; contribute to the Physical Security audit program through the conduct of physical security reviews; maintaining, reviewing and revising Security Policies, Procedures and Plans; conducting relevant Security Inquiries and preparing reports on security activities. Develop and maintain significant customer and stakeholder relationships, including liaison with internal and external clients; Work as a team member and assist with training as required; The ability and desire to travel domestically and internationally and hold current driver's licence. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:
Formal qualifications and demonstrated skills and expertise in security risk management, in particular security risk assessment and physical security; Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the demonstrated capacity to produce detailed technical reports and make formal presentations to large groups as well as one-on-one briefings; Demonstrated high level representational skills; Knowledge of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework and associated policies and procedures.
