Philanthropy Manager role at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research InstitutePosition OverviewThe Philanthropy Manager will lead and manage all aspects of philanthropic giving at the Institute and is responsible for building, cultivating and managing a healthy and engaged donor pipeline. This role is responsible for developing and implementing an ambitious and diversified fundraising strategy to drive philanthropic revenue including from major gifts, bequests, trusts and foundation grants, and regular giving.Reporting directly to the COO, the Philanthropy Manager will lead strategic Fundraising & Philanthropy initiatives to optimise donor service delivery and overall fundraising revenue effectively. This role will work closely with the ONJCRI Marketing and Communications Manager and requires a dynamic and innovative individual with a passion for relationship fundraising and talent for identifying and managing philanthropic activities. This position plays a critical role in sustaining and shaping the future of the Institute.Your RoleYou will develop, manage, and implement a diversified fundraising and relationship-building strategy for the Institute in alignment with the Impact Goals of the Institute.You will create and nurture long-term relationships with key supporters, ensuring high quality and effective supporter journeys across all touch points, including brand expression, advertising and communications. Explore new funding opportunities, plus lead development and implementation of new products and initiatives including online platforms and digital channels.You will lead ONJCRI's fundraising activities that drive philanthropic revenue including major gifts, bequests, trusts and foundation grants, and regular giving.You will develop and implement best practice fundraising, gift processing and data management plans and procedures to meet giving targets and inform future fundraising activities.You will work with the scientists and researchers to build cases for support.You will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager and internal and external Research Advancement and Research Development teams to grow relationships with philanthropists, trusts, and foundations.You will combine personal outreach and execute a tailored engagement plan, including broader communication strategies to enhance fundraising efforts and donor stewardship.You will oversee the annual fundraising operating budget and revenue plan, including developing and maintaining income and expenditure tracking and evaluation performance metrics and cost rations. Utilise data analytics to inform fundraising strategies, track performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.You will lead and/or support the development of high-quality pitches, funding proposals and campaign activity.You will provide strategic advice on funding and philanthropic sector trends and identify opportunities to ensure the Institute is well positioned to meet its Impact Goals.You will represent the organisation at external forums, and work with the Executive Team to maintain strong internal and external relationships to leverage outcomes and growth.You will ensure all fundraising activities accord with industry standards and appropriate legislation relating to Privacy, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.About youYou will be a seasoned professional with a proven track record in achieving gifts and donations from donors. You will have excellent relationship building skills combined with the ability to apply an analytical lens to funding proposals.Exceptional communication, relationship building and management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead fundraising and philanthropic activities.Experience in developing and implementing a philanthropy strategy and managing donor pipelines and donor stewardship.Experience in using fundraising databases and CRM software.Experience in major donor giving and in inspiring scientists and researchers to articulate their stories in a compelling way.Experience in not-for-profit, charitable or philanthropic organisations gained within the health or medical research sectors would be advantageous, ideally in a cancer research setting.Comprehensive technical knowledge of a wide range of philanthropic work, including solicitation and stewardship of individuals, foundations and potential partner cultivation and research, grant writing, and special events.A successful track record in executing on strategy, setting priorities, managing multiple projects and working effectively under pressure to achieve individual and Institute Impact Goals including financial targets.Good understanding of legal, financial and ethical issues related to philanthropic giving.A career with usBe part of a leading institute renowned for its significant contributions to cancer research and patient care.Collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of cancer patients.Contribute to achieving the Institute's mission of developing accessible and effective cancer diagnostics and therapeutics.The wellbeing of our employees is a priority.
