About the role Your challenge as the new Pharmacist will be to assist with the supply of all medicines and provision of clinical services from the Department of Pharmacy, including chemotherapy and clinical trials, to applicable professional and industry standards.
Your key responsibilities will include: Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures of safety systems improvement initiatives and related. Undertake appropriate corporate and pharmacy training to ensure competency in all aspects of performance as a pharmacist in Lifehouse. Be responsible for the procurement, storage, distribution and dispensing of all medicines and consumables including those used in the preparation of chemotherapy. Manage 'owing' prescriptions for standard and authority medicines to ensure the maximum revenue is derived from each 'claim' and the minimum of owing prescriptions are outstanding. Liaise with health funds and private insurers to enable patients to receive treatment at an appropriate cost. Provide clinical ward services, undertake patient counselling, provide medicines information and participate in education programmes for pharmacists, medical and nursing staff, and other health care professionals. Assist with the training, supervision and motivation of pharmacy technical staff. Selection Criteria Registration as a pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Experience in hospital pharmacy practice including clinical oncology experience. Competence in drug knowledge and its application to the clinical setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with all members of the health care team, patients and carers, contractors and vendors. An appreciation of the principles of medication safety. An understanding of the delivery of cancer care in a tertiary institution. This is a Category A position.
