As Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research you will be responsible for leadership and the achievement of Research Strategy aspirations and associated goals for the University. This will occur through an integrated and coherent University-wide approach to planning, delivering, managing, funding and communicating research achievements. It will demonstrably provide a culture of support for researchers engaged in internationally recognised, transformational research.
As Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), you will also play a vital role in ensuring that we deliver on the ambitions of our Sydney in 2032 institutional strategy, include leading work our Sydney Biomedical Accelerator (SBA), a first-in-Australia precinct that will fast-track scientific discovery into better clinical and patient-centred research and healthcare solutions.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) will report directly to the Vice-Chancellor, working collaboratively with the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the University Executive, Academic Board and Senate to lead University-wide activities.
As a member of the University Executive, you will also be expected to play a key role in enabling the delivery of University-wide strategy, including a high performance culture. You will contribute fully to the deliberations of the University's principal decision-making body for all significant matters of University strategy, management, administration and related policy.
About You A senior academic leader with a comprehensive understanding of strategic issues in higher education, you will have the ability to lead the University's pursuit of outstanding fundamental and applied research across the institution. You will demonstrate extensive experience in people leadership in a university environment, as well as in setting and delivering on organisational strategy. You will also bring commercial nous to the role and drive successful engagement with external partners across industry, government and community in relation to research commercialisation and impact.
Term and Remuneration The position is fixed term for an initial period of five years on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
