WSLHD Mental Health Service Permanent Up to 0.5FTE Staff Specialist Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Blacktown CLICK HERE TO APPLY Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be a Staff Specialist Psychiatrist within the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry unit at Blacktown Hospital, Western Sydney Local Health District but as agreed with the Director of Clinical Services MH in any other part of the Mental Health Service. The position will involve the provision of psychiatric assessment to the medical, surgical and Emergency Department patients of Blacktown Hospital, teaching of registrars and medical students at the Western Sydney University. There are a comprehensive range of treatment programs and areas of active research in Western Sydney Local Health District. This position is expected to support provision of medical input for indigenous population with Mental Health issues. Successful applicants will be expected to take part in planning and service development as well as having training responsibilities. Successful applicants will be working in a motivated and highly rewarding position within a well-established senior team, supported through high quality supervision and training. There are opportunities for supervision, consultation, presentations, and innovative research as part of the role. Successful applicants will be expected to provide admitting, consultative, procedural, outpatient and on call services within the specialty as determined and required by the district. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed. Essential Requirements for Appointment 1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award/ Health Insurance Act 1997. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable) 2. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position, undertaking advanced training in the subspeciality or has a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry advanced training certificate. Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Western Sydney Local Health District appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters.
