Successful candidates can work at any of our offices located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Geelong, Melbourne or Sydney, although a hybrid model of working from home and the office applies.About the roleThe role of testing and quality assurance practices at the ABS focuses on ensuring software and solutions implemented is of high quality, fit-for-purpose, and fit-for-use.The Performance Test Analyst is part of a team responsible for the design, build, testing and deployment of effective performance test solutions to ensure the quality, reliability and completeness of business systems deployed on departmental platforms.
Here are some of their key responsibilities:undertake performance test projects in collaboration with key stakeholders, vendor representatives and other teams / expertscontribute to the development and implementation of performance test strategies and plans and provide input into test scriptsexecute scheduled performance tests in accordance with agreed strategy /plan and timeframesanalyse and review performance test results, modify tests where necessary and provide reports on performance anomalies, risks and issues and recommendations for improvementwork collaboratively with key stakeholders, vendor representatives and other IT teams / experts to discuss test results and ensure that issues / problems identified during testing are resolved efficiently.
Much of the work we do impacts the acquisition, processing and dissemination of critical statistical products that are used by governments, businesses and the public in key decision-making processes.The team is dispersed across multiple locations and our personnel are deployed into projects which cover a variety of products and services, our key work program partnerships being Census, Big Data Insights and Analytics, Data Integration and Data Acquisition.What we are looking for (selection criteria)To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:minimum 2+ years active, continuous, hands-on experience with: o performance test planning o workload modelling o capacity planning for medium to large scale applications o developing dynamic performance testing suites using Apache JMeter and LoadRunner Enterprise * experience monitoring application-performance using at least one of the following observability tools: Dynatrace, CloudWatch, Splunk experience diagnosing performance issues and recommending implementing performance tuning and risk mitigation approaches to address themexperience with CI/CD, DevOps, automation, and cloud technologyexcellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with various stakeholdersexperience in coaching, mentoring, and managing othersa commitment to upholding the ABS and APS values, adhering to the APS code of conduct and employment principles.
