About the divisionBusiness Grants Hub (BGH) and Integrity Division is responsible for the design and delivery of grants and services to businesses on behalf of 12 Commonwealth agencies. 

About the teamThe Data, Analytics & Reporting Team within the Business Grants Hub and Integrity Division was formed with the overarching goal of ensuring the data generated and used throughout grants administration is captured, governed, and used effectively. This includes a range of activities including monitoring grants delivery performance, improving the way grants data is collected and managed, responding to ongoing and ad hoc requests for data and reporting, and driving cultural change in how staff engage with data.The opportunityWe are seeking a candidate to lead the performance reporting and ad hoc reporting streams, which includes undertaking regular performance monitoring of Business Grants Hub performance, in addition to leading a small team to respond to a range of ad hoc reporting requests from policy, the Minister's office, and other key stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate possesses the following skills:

strong data capabilities, including the ability to write SQL queries and develop interactive reporting products in Power BIthe ability to tailor communication and reporting products for a non-technical audiencestrong stakeholder engagement skills, and a willingness to respond to feedbacka focus on continuous improvement and proactively identifying ways to operate more effectivelyexperience in supervising and developing staff at a range of levelsExperience in developing and measuring performance metrics is desired, but not essential.

Our ideal candidate adds to this culture and our workplace in their own way.What you will doYour role as the lead of performance and ad hoc reporting streams will see you implement performance reporting initiatives, in addition to responding to a range of ad hoc reporting needs of stakeholders. This includes:

Monitoring the performance of grants delivery within the Business Grants Hub through development of an internal benefits frameworkReporting annually to Department of Finance on the performance of the Business Grants HubResponding to a range of ad hoc requests for data, from simple requests for numbers through to development of bespoke Power BI reportsDeveloping an understanding of the different data we maintain within the division, including grants delivery data, workforce planning data, and financial dataCoordinating data requests across the broader team, and prioritising where requiredEnsuring regular reporting products are maintained, and continue to meet the needs of stakeholdersProactively working to improve our reporting practices with a focus on robust quality assurance, consistency, and good documentation of processesSupervising a small team of APS staff and technical contractors.EligibilityTo be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.

Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
NotesA merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.

The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles. This vacancy is Canberra based, although flexible or remote work arrangements will be considered and there is the possibility of working from other state office locations.
