West Coast Wilderness Railway is located on the West Coast of lutruwita/Tasmania, spread over 35km between two towns with two licensed cafes, multiple retail and ticketing outlets and a century old railway that journeys through dense rainforest, climbs up and around gorges with six stations, an extensive workshop.The Role:Lead and support West Coast Wilderness Railway's (WCWR) People and Culture objectives by providing high quality operational and strategic human resource management to help deliver strategic and business outcomes from a people perspective. This is a part time role (3 days a week).Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Lead the continued development of WCWR organisational staff strategies.Manage the recruitment process including job description, advertising, scheduling interviews and supporting managers in assessing applicants and onboarding.Manage and lead staff development and performance processes.Maintain and implement employment-related policies and procedures.Ensure WCWR complies with its obligations under work health and safety legislation and manage the administration of workers compensation claims and return to work coordination.Provide support to payroll functions as needed.SCOPE OF WORK: (Responsibility, Decision-Making and Direction Received)The role reports to the General Manager. The occupant exercises a high degree of autonomy in performing the core functions of the role and providing timely and accurate advice to help WCWR's departments to deliver their strategic and operational business objectives.The occupant will be required to stay abreast with contemporary human resource management practices together with an excellent understanding of WCWR'S strategy, business and people challenges as they will rely on their expert knowledge to provide sound authoritative advice and develop strong and trusted relationships.The role is required to work flexibly and collaboratively with the human resources team to meet business needs and deliver an integrated service.The role is predominantly based in Queenstown, where office space will be provided, but there will be some travel between WCWR sites. For the right candidate, this role can be worked remotely with three days on site every 2-3 weeks, or by agreement.
