Competitive Salary $36.00 - $38.60 p/hr + $5.57 p/hr regional allowance Salary sacrifice benefits HOPE has been a community service in Western Australia for over a century, providing much needed support to people affected by alcohol and other drugs, mental ill-health, youth justice issues and socioeconomic disadvantage.  We have an exciting opportunity for a Peer Worker to join the Pilbara Community Alcohol and Other Drug Services team! The position is part time, working days flexible. Do you have recovery experience of drug addiction or misuse? About the Role: Hope Community Services  is introducing Peer workers across our Community Alcohol and other Drugs Service. Peer Workers at HOPE work are valued members of our Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) teams where they help to connect HOPE with the local community and deliver services. The Peer Worker's responsibilities include: Acting as a first point of contact for clients Working alongside the participants and the counsellor/educator to identify goals that are important to the participant. Supporting participants to connect in the community Facilitating support groups Keeping records of service delivery using our online client management system As a Peer Worker you will also be supported to advocate for consumer rights and provide feedback to the Primary Health Networks regarding barriers to services. About you: This role requires that you have a past experience of recovery from substance misuse or addiction and are currently living well. In this role you must be willing to promote, participate in, and contribute to a supportive team environment. You will also work collaboratively with community members and a range of health professionals, including specialists, GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals. You will need some IT skills to maintain records. Good communication skills are essential for this role and an understanding of the local health system, including referral pathways is desirable. To be successful in this application you must have a solid understanding of personal and professional boundaries and be able to apply them in practice Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, satisfactory National Criminal Record checks, the Working with Children Check, records, Current C or A class driver's license, and suitable referee.   Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months), Working with Children card,  Current C or A class driver's license, First Aid Certificate, and suitable referee.
