Why this role matters The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high-quality, person-centred services to people at risk or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection, and referral to other specialist services. You will work alongside case managers, providing support and hope for recovery to the clients in the program. The Support Worker is responsible for supporting clients and case managers as directed by the Team Leader.
About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Peer Support Worker at our Darwin location. Reporting to the Open House Senior Case Manager, this is a fixed-term, part-time position offering 30 hours per week until the 30th June 2026. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 3.
You will successfullyProvide the opportunity for clients to engage in recreational activities and/or recovery-related activities.Provide transport to clients participating in the program.Maintain regular communication with all team members.Establish and maintain professional relationships with residents.Provide an immediate and appropriate response to incidents that impact resident safety and security in accordance with site policies and procedures.You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications)Lived experience, or supported someone with mental health and homelessness, and have intimate knowledge surrounding this.An understanding of what contributes to recovery from a lived experience perspective.Experience in supporting people who are struggling with mental health and/or homelessness, including volunteer work.Experience in or willingness to learn skills in co-facilitation of groups.What we offer As a registered NFP, we offer our eligible employees real and meaningful benefits such as:
