Peer Support Worker | Housing Support (Stay) Program

Permanent part time opportunity, 19 hours per week Peer Support / Lived Experience Worker Friendly & supportive team at Clarendon Clinic - East Melbourne location About the Role You will develop and implement strategies that support tenants of public housing requiring mental health and drug and alcohol support and intervention, to engage with STAY, and to connect with community, referral and other health supports.
You will provide peer support to consumers who are part of the program, as well as offering a lived experience perspective to the clinical staff and housing services that consult with us.
You are highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic and feel comfortable working in a 'non-traditional' mental health role.
You will be able to apply your lived experience and peer support skills to the support and recovery of others.
Work within the Strengths Model of recovery orientated practice Build a therapeutic alliance with the consumer and family/carers and actively engage them in peer support Work within a Community Development and consultation framework, advising from a lived experience perspective.
Contribute to the development and delivery of tenants support and referral plans through effective engagement and connection Work with a multidisciplinary team, and build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external health professionals Classifications for this position will range from Peer Support Worker Level 3 MP36 - MP39 ($76,086 - $83,168 per annum pro rata) Your Contribution A lived experience of mental illness A minimum of at 3 years of experience working within the Mental Health sector Current Victorian driver's license A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain Tertiary qualifications are desirable What We Offer A focus on wellbeing initiatives, with regular events and programs Confidential, solutions-focused employee counselling A healthy work/life balance encouraged.
