About the role Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service (YRRS) is a strengths focused, recovery-orientated residential service that supports young people aged between 16-25 years recovering from a disability associated with a psychiatric condition for up to 12 months. In a safe home-like environment, the service provides clients individual and group based supports that build resilience, develop life skills, enhance social connections, enable access to community networks and promote a greater sense of being able to make sound decisions. Young people benefit from sharing their experiences and recovery journeys whilst growing their confidence, capacity and skills to live independently in the community.
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient Peer Practitioner for a fixed term, part time (7.6 hours per week) opportunity to work on a 24/7 rotating roster with some sleepover shifts, in the Wodonga area. You will utilise your lived experience of mental ill health to provide positive person-centred, recovery-oriented supports to clients to achieve wellbeing goals, develop capacity and life skills, strengthen social connections, enhance support networks and grow confidence to live independently.
Key responsibilities Utilise your own lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to inform your work and the work of the team.Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.Support clients to return to their community and enjoy a meaningful life through an individual approach to recovery.Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the client's recovery goals.What you'll bring Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.Prior lived experience and willingness to support clients through sharing learnings and recovery-orientated practice is required.Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and collaborating with families and carers.Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.Benefits Fitness Passport - Access to our corporate health and fitness program, providing you and family with access to a wide choice of fitness facilities.Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), provided by Converge International, for you and your immediate family members.Learning, development and career opportunities.Interested?
