About the role:
We are currently seeking a Technical Services Manager at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) Mine. Our CMJV mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets, with an extension of an additional pit at Moorvale South, adding to our coal production.
Reporting into the Executive General Manager, you will lead a technical team and oversee geotechnical and environmental compliance, mine surveying, geology and the associated modelling and all LOM planning and reporting with the function.
Duties will include: Provide and sustain a safe working environment for all team members Ensure compliance with the site SHMS Provide a complete, timely and accurate suite of Technical Services to the Joint Venture Engage regularly with all internal stakeholders to ensure the success of the JV Provide strong leadership and direction to the Technical Services Team Support and participate in the annual Budget process Maintain all production and processing statistics Engage with the Marketing team on product requirements and delivery Setting clear goals and expectations for the team and individuals therein Hold team and team members to account for delivery Recognise and celebrate good performance The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a 9-day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO or FIFO lifestyle. Employees living residentially may have access to a housing allowance and may have the ability to salary sacrifice up to 50% of rental payments.
About you: The successful candidate will have the following:
At least 10 years' combined experience in mining technical services, production and supervisory roles in the coal mining industry. Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent. Strengths in short, medium and long-term mine planning, safety standards and budgeting processes. Thorough knowledge of Coal Mining legislation and statutory obligations. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and strong stakeholder engagement. Working knowledge of SAP and mining engineering systems such as Deswik, Spry and Vulcan is essential. Job Description: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Visibly support and champion Peabody's Missions and Values Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System Plan, direct and lead the work of direct report(s), crew or team Develop business strategy to promote the organization's recognized engineering competence and market advantage Select, develop, and deploy engineering expertise to ensure projects are completed in accordance with budgetary and quality requirements Develop engineering standards and policy within the organization Develop and control departmental budgets Act as liaison for other members of the organization, project teams and clients to promote the company's market position Manage the engineering function in a professional and profitable manner Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements Other duties as assigned by the company EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience managing an engineering function required 3 years supervisory experience preferred Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements - Surface Environment: Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 – 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays) Physical Requirements - Underground Environment: Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination Must have the ability to lift 25 – 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 80 lbs. Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays) Physical Requirements - Office: Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc. #J-18808-Ljbffr
