Description Bundanon is seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist, someone who understands the complexities of payroll, award interpretation, and the processes involved in managing payroll operations. This Part-Time role (0.6 FTE, 3 days a week) is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, tackling payroll challenges, and ensuring smooth, accurate payroll cycles. ABOUT BUNDANON Bundanon is an art museum embedded in a 1,000 hectare landscape, in the Shoalhaven region of NSW. The organisation's mission is to operate the Bundanon properties as a centre for creative arts and education, to support the development of arts practice across all disciplines and to enable public access to the arts and to the landscape. Bundanon's vision is to promote creativity and learning based in a unique cultural and natural landscape. ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Payroll is responsible for overseeing and managing Bundanon's payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and policies. The role will streamline payroll procedures, implement systems for efficiency and accuracy, and act as a key liaison between the Finance team, HR and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues and provide strategic insights. WHAT YOU WILL DO... Payroll Management Manage and coordinate the end-to-end payroll processing with precision. Manage employee payroll data within the payroll system, ensuring accuracy in compensation, leave accruals, benefits, tax withholding, superannuation, PAYG, worker compensation declaration, month-end and year-end processes. Stay updated on and lead compliance with all payroll-related legislation, including STP reporting, PAYG, Payroll tax. Work independently with HR to ensure payroll data integrity, coordinating on issues such as award interpretation, payroll system rules, and other compliance matters. Work collaboratively with HR to develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices. Payroll Process Improvement Collaborate with HR and lead efforts to automate payroll processes, including system design, implementation, and optimisation to improve efficiency. Ensure that the payroll system configuration aligns with employment legislation and Awards, in collaboration with HR, to support compliance. Finance & Reporting Assist the Chief Finance Officer with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annually financial reports for all levels of government. Assist in reconciling payroll ledger accounts, general ledger cost centres, and employee benefit provisions to ensure accurate financial reporting. Monitor Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) and budget utilisation and produce comprehensive reports to ensure efficient and optimal workforce allocation. Handle specific Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) reporting. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR... Tertiary qualifications and related experience in a similar role, independently managing payroll cycles and resolving issues. Demonstrated experience managing all facets of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax laws, superannuation, and statutory reporting requirements. Experience with award interpretation and application, configuring payroll systems to ensure compliance with organisational and legislative requirements. Proficiency in configuring and managing payroll systems, including rule setup for accurate processing, troubleshooting, and alignment with employment conditions. Experience with process improvement, including HRIS implementation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with payroll and HR systems such as Employment Hero Payroll and Deputy rostering systems, or equivalent platforms. Knowledge of the Australian Government Industry Award 2016.
