ABOUT THE ROLE Due to ongoing career growth we have an opportunity for a Permanent Payroll Officer available in our Toowoomba Office. The position is a full-time role; however, flexible working hours will be considered. As a Payroll Officer with Mort & Co, your responsibilities will include:
Establishing and maintaining payroll records, including new starters, payroll changes, and terminations, maintaining employee records to ensure compliance with audit requirements. Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements, and employment contracts, providing support and advice to employees and site administration in relation to requests for information related to payroll matters. Processing end-to-end payroll for Mort & Co and associated entities in a timely and accurate manner, including distribution of payslips to all employees, and reporting Single Touch Payroll (STP) to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) within reporting timeframes. Ensuring compliance obligations are met, including but not limited to Payroll Tax, STP, Superannuation, Workcover, and Child Support Allowance through the effective management of claims, reimbursements, declarations, contributions, payments, transactions, and reporting as required. Collating and confirming accuracy of timecards, ensuring leave entitlements and applications are calculated, confirmed, and processed in a timely manner, and fortnightly leave entitlement reports for sites and departments are processed effectively. Reconciling, processing, and receipting payroll deductions for employees, including rent deductions, fuel deductions, and salary sacrifice amounts. Preparing & submitting superannuation contributions to a clearing house. ABOUT YOU To be successful in this position, you'll have previous experience in a payroll position and a desire to learn and develop. You'll also bring:
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work in a team and take instruction. Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Good judgement and the ability to make timely, practical, and effective decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft suite and the ability to learn and effectively operate payroll software systems. Ability to prioritise, manage expectations, and meet deadlines.
