Working as part of a team, the Payroll Officer is responsible for the efficient end to end processing of Council's fortnightly payroll and providing customer-focused information and advice on remuneration and award related matters.
Contribute to all operational aspects of payroll processing and associated activities, including salary disbursement, overpayment recovery, leave management and reporting are accurate and delivered within appropriate timeframes and comply with relevant legislation. Prepare complex payroll and human resource information for data input and assist with checking, quality control and maintenance of records to ensure accuracy, service quality and data integrity. Assist the organisation to meet its taxation, superannuation and other legislative and statutory obligations through processing and preparation of returns, related reports, forms and other documentation as requested. Provide a responsive, accurate client advisory service on payroll matters, resolve difficult enquiries and assist in identifying payroll errors and implementing corrective action where required to ensure employee payments are processed accurately and database integrity is maintained. About you You will possess a Certificate IV in Payroll Administration and/or similar qualification, or have demonstrated knowledge and experience in processing payroll in a medium to large organisation with applied knowledge of relevant tax and superannuation matters and the ability to interpret awards and agreements. Fast and accurate data processing skills with attention to detail in a high-volume environment. Substantial relevant experience with demonstrated business acumen and ability to apply legislation, policies, standards, regulations and procedures relevant to the area of work including relevant tax and superannuation matters and awards and agreements. Ability to apply numeracy skills to perform calculations and reconcile figures relevant in to Human Resources and Payroll administration. Strong time management, work prioritisation and organisation skills with demonstrated ability to work both independently and interdependently to ensure work tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard.
