The Town of Cottesloe is seeking an enthusiastic, confident and experienced Payroll Officer to join the finance team.
This position is permanent part-time, working 38 hours per fortnight (FTE 0.5) located at our Cottesloe Civic Centre.
About the OpportunityThis role involves end-to-end payroll processing for Town of Cottesloe employees and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and Council policies.
Additionally, the successful candidate will play a key role in the Town's upcoming digital transformation, as we implement a new payroll system, including testing and optimizing processes.
A strong affinity for technology and the ability to adapt to and improve new systems will be beneficial in this role.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Process fortnightly payroll using Civica Authority, Datacom Datascape, and DataPay, ensuring compliance with legislation and agreements.Verify timesheets, calculate adjustments (allowances, leave, overtime), and manage EFT payroll payments.Reconcile payroll with the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.Handle new starter documentation, statutory deductions (PAYG, superannuation), and ensure ATO compliance.Process superannuation, child support, and health fund applications.Assist with end-of-year reporting, audits, and payroll reconciliations.Prepare payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries.About youThe following selection criteria is essential for the role: Extensive experience as a Payroll Officer.Diploma or certificate in payroll administration (or equivalent).Strong knowledge of Awards, Industrial Agreements, Taxation, and Superannuation.Excellent mathematical, numeracy, and data entry skills.Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines with attention to detail.Strong customer service and confidentiality awareness.High-level computer skills, including payroll software and advanced MS Office (Excel, Word).Please note, the selected candidate will need to have or obtain a National Police Clearance, provide evidence of Australian working rights and complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
