About the role As the Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, generation and data inputs related to the processing of payroll, including payment of wages, allowances, leave and separations. To do this you will:
Liaise with third party providers and internal stakeholders to collate and review data for accuracy and appropriateness in accordance with divisional policies and practices. Prepare and accurately input daily and/or fortnightly or weekly information from employees' timesheets & rosters. Complete payroll processing and respond to all payroll related queries from employees (current and past), managers, and business divisions (as appropriate). Ensure maintenance of all pay related transactions and employment history in accordance with agreements, policies and legislation. This includes employee allowances, leave balances, absence information, staff movements and WorkCover payments. Complete all relevant manual time and absence data entry for the fortnightly payroll cycle. Handle any payroll exceptions during the payroll process. Interpret relevant employer/employee registered agreements, Awards, directives and policy requirements to ensure correct payment of employees and the effective maintenance of employee Masterfile details. Participate in an internal and external audit process and advise on audit requirements. Provide information as required to relevant external authorities, including the ATO, Centrelink, super funds to ensure data is processed accurately and on time. About You You will be a highly effective communicator (strong written and verbal skills) with demonstrated relevant experience in payroll processing. In addition, you will need to demonstrate the following:
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in a high volume and complex processing environment. Demonstrated service-oriented approach. Ability to handle confidential information. Demonstrated knowledge of industrial awards, industrial relations and WorkCover. Experience in interpreting industry agreements, Awards, with the ability to translate into time keeping practices. Knowledge of policies, procedures and practices that specifically relate to employment conditions and employee leave administration. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of payroll software and rostering systems. Ability to schedule work priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to.
