Payroll Officer

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Havilah's payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment of employee salaries, benefits, and deductions. This role involves maintaining payroll records, calculating wages, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities: Prepare and process fortnightly payroll for all employees Ensure the accurate calculation of wages, allowances, overtime, and deductions Manage payroll systems and ensure data integrity Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, pay rates, and hours worked. Ensure all payroll transactions are recorded and reported accurately. Handle payroll discrepancies and inquiries from employees. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, applicable awards and bargaining agreements Ensure third party payments are completed in a timely and accurate manner (Superannuation, Child Support) etc. Keep up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations. Prepare and file payroll tax returns and other statutory reports as required Process and manage employee benefits, such as health insurance and salary packaging Generate payroll reports for management as required. Assist in preparing annual payroll budgets and forecasts Maintain and update payroll software, ensuring that all necessary data is entered correctly. Collaborate with IT to address any system issues and upgrades. Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures and records to ensure accuracy and compliance. Assist in internal and external payroll audits. Provide support and guidance to employees regarding payroll matters. Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues promptly. Collaborate with People & Culture to identify and address any issues that arise Qualifications: Certification in Payroll Management is advantageous Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role Experience with payroll software is highly desirable Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong understanding of payroll systems and processes Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity. Professionalism: Demonstrate respect, confidentiality and sensitivity in all communications with staff Attend and actively participate in meetings organized to discuss any issues related to the suitable management of Payroll. Demonstrate commitment to ongoing quality and continuous improvement. Confidentiality: The Havilah Confidentiality Policy must be adhered to at all times; at no time must information relating to a resident/family or staff member be discussed with anyone other than the relevant staff member/care professional providing care/service.
Failure to observe this requirement may be regarded as misconduct warranting termination and incur liability to penalty pursuant to Section 141 of the Health Services Act, 1988.
