THE ROLE:
As a Payroll Officer, you will assist the Austrade Payroll Team in managing the pay and conditions for Austrade APS employees, both in Australia and Overseas. The Payroll Team is responsible for the management and administration of all payroll systems and processes associated with HR data and reporting.

The Payroll Team is committed to consistently improving service standards through innovation, systems, and process enhancements.

As a Payroll Officer, you will undertake tasks under general direction as part of a small team that can be complex and requires meticulous attention to detail.

In this APS 4 role, you will be accountable for meeting daily and weekly goals while organising your own workload. As part of this client-facing role, you may be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of pay and employment conditions to internal and external stakeholders. You will be expected to mitigate the risks of underpayments and overpayments by ensuring anything that needs to occur in a certain pay period is processed correctly and escalate any issues to managers in a timely manner as required.
DUTIES INCLUDE: Business as usual payroll processing for APS employees (including SES) such as commencements, terminations, and certain leave types, allowance claims, exceptions, compensation, timesheets, prior service, superannuation birthday reviews, and salary packaging.Workflow tickets and payroll inbox resolution.Manage the smart salary adjustments each pay and assist with variances for payrun.Calculate and process a range of payroll services including remuneration, superannuation, entitlements, leave, commencements, and cessations of employees.Research and advise on a range of legislation and policies, including enterprise agreements related to complex employment conditions.Given our commitment to diversity and inclusion, Austrade actively encourages applications from people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people, women, and people with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds for all of our roles.
