We are seeking a skilled and experienced Payroll Officer with strong human resource and compliance management skills to manage the payroll function for our organisation, ensuring adherence with relevant legislation and award interpretation at a national level.
Tasks & responsibilities Manage the weekly end-to-end payroll process for 350 employees, ensuring timely and accurate payment of wages.Handle time and attendance software in a roster-based environment, ensuring correct interpretation of shift differentials, overtime, and leave.Ensure compliance with workcover requirements, state-based payroll tax, superannuation legislation and employee leave entitlements.Interpret and advise on awards and agreements, ensuring accurate payment of entitlements.Review and improve payroll processes, procedures, and work practices to enhance efficiency and compliance.Assist in onboarding, employee induction, and maintaining human resources records.Collaborate with human resources on performance reviews, employee relations, and other human resources-related activities. Qualifications & experience Proven experience managing payroll for a medium-sized organisation, ideally within hospitality or another industry with complex award rates.Familiarity with state-based payroll tax, superannuation regulations, workcover compliance, and award interpretation.Proficiency in Excel (intermediate to advanced), with the ability to analyse data and improve payroll processes.Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to maintain confidentiality.Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with employees and management at all levels.Ability to work autonomously and handle weekly payroll cycles under tight deadlines.
