About the Opportunity Council is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer who will be responsible for operating within the Human Resources Department, this role will perform payroll processing activities in accordance with relevant awards, legislation, Council's policies and procedures. 
This position can be based at any of our major regional centres (Dalby/Chinchilla/Miles/Tara/Wandoan). This position is fixed term until 31 January 2025. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will be:
Providing a high level of service, advice and response to payroll related enquiries, including interpretation of relevant industrial instruments;Performing accurate and high-volume payroll related data processing including employee maintenance, salary sacrifice arrangements, end to end superannuation processes, employee deductions and disbursements, off cycle employment terminations and backpay adjustments, within scheduled deadlines;Maintaining currency of relevant knowledge in industrial legislation, superannuation and PAYG taxation; andContributing to, assist and perform pay period and financial year processing and related reporting.About yourself The successful applicant will have the:
Ability to competently interpret industrial instruments and employment related legislation, and practical experience gained in a multi-instrument payroll environment.Thorough knowledge of operational methods and activities relevant to payroll functions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and in writing, including negotiation and consultation skills and the ability to display tact, discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.Substantial time management, prioritisation and planning skills to meet regular and concurrent deadlines.The benefits working for WDRC: Work / life balance We understand the importance of balance.
