About the role As the Payroll Manager, you will drive continuous optimisation of payroll operations, always seeking ways to improve efficiency and accuracy. You'll be a role model for a growth mindset, encouraging continuous improvement not just within the payroll function but also across the broader People & Culture team. Coaching and development will be a priority for you, ensuring that your team has the skills and capabilities needed to excel.
You'll manage month-end and year-end processes, staying up to date on legislative changes and statutory requirements to ensure compliance. Leading both internal and external audits will be a key responsibility, as well as identifying essential payroll reports and delivering insightful data summaries to support decision-making.
What you're here to do Drive the payroll function to consistently optimise payroll outcomes.Review payroll processes and policies, and with a view to continuous improvements that deliver both process efficiencies and an optimised employee experience.Provide oversight for all manual calculations (redundancy, termination etc).Manage month end and year end requirements according to prescribed timelines.Ensure the payroll system is updated in accordance with any legislative or other industrial instrument changes and statutory requirements.Payroll reporting – identify required payroll reports and ensure these are accurate, and provide data insight summaries where necessary.You will work on exciting projects, including: Onboard our brand-new venue, Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre onto our systems.Participate in payroll and rostering process enhancements.Lead an upgrade of our payroll system.What you will need Extensive payroll management experience with direct reports in a complex environment.In-depth knowledge of payroll compliance and legislative requirements.A knack for problem-solving and using initiative.Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Outlook, and web-based tools.Demonstrated leadership and coaching abilities.Customer-centric approach and effective stakeholder engagement.Experience in participating in payroll audits.What's for you?
