About the roleAs the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire payroll function for a group of companies with the majority of its function within the education sector and as such will need prior experience with a STARS education finance and payroll organisation. This is ideally a permanent role located in Melbourne's CBD, however for the right person this could be a transformational contract if preferred.What you'll be doingManaging the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, including international staff & students with agent payment systems. This will include processing timesheets, calculating salaries, and ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages.Administering employee benefits, superannuation, and other payroll-related deductions.Maintaining accurate payroll records and preparing relevant reports for management and compliance purposes.Liaising with HR and finance teams to ensure smooth integration of payroll data.Staying up to date with relevant payroll legislation and regulations, and implementing any necessary changes.Providing training and support to the payroll team, and assisting with any queries or issues that may arise.Conducting an audit of the current and past systems & processes to review what is best for the organisation going forward.Handling the group company owners' finances up to one day a week if this is to be a full-time position.What we're looking forMinimum 5 years of experience in a payroll management or senior payroll officer role, preferably within the accounting professional services handling education clients or within the Education sector itself. Experience in both would be an added bonus.Strong working knowledge of payroll software and systems, as well as Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements. International experience is again an added bonus.Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software tools.Ability to work collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders, and provide outstanding customer service.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with employees and resolve payroll-related queries.What we offerIn this group of companies, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters employee growth and development.
