Payroll & Hr Reporting Specialist

About the Role Located in our Brisbane Corporate office, this position is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of weekly wages and monthly staff payroll. You will ensure compliance with system requirements and statutory regulations whilst delivering accurate reporting to the business. The role also emphasises creating efficiencies and automating processes to improve payroll operations.

Your role will be rewarding and varied, where you will: Provide expert guidance on legislative and system changes, payroll compliance, and industrial instruments (e.g., Curragh Enterprise Agreement). Maintain and review payroll records, HR system data, and ensure the accuracy of payroll requirements, including position management and system testing. Manage external reporting requirements (e.g., Payroll Tax, Single Touch Payroll, Coal LSL, Superannuation) and act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies. Analyse payroll data to identify trends and support management decisions regarding leave provisioning, overtime, and payroll costs. Perform end-of-month/year processes, payroll audits, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with SOX audit standards. Identify system improvement opportunities, provide user training, reduce third-party spend by resolving issues, and maintain process documentation. Key to your success will be your: Extensive experience with SAP payroll. Strong knowledge of payroll and employment legislation, with the ability to interpret industrial awards and Enterprise Agreements. Familiarity with remuneration and benefits matters, including novated leases, taxation, superannuation, and long service leave. Technically proficient, with problem-solving skills to resolve payroll or HR issues and identify root causes. Experience in developing and streamlining reports, demonstrating a high level of analytical ability.
