About Blackwater Mine: Situated 73 kilometers south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin.
This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of 80 kilometers.
Blackwater extracts high-quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using truck and shovel, as well as loader and dragline.
About the Role: With our new acquisition of Blackwater Mine, we are seeking a Payroll Coordinator who will play a critical role in supporting the payroll function by managing payroll-related data, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and assisting with compliance and reporting.
While this role does not involve the direct processing of payroll, it requires close collaboration with the payroll processing team to ensure that all payroll activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
Based on site, you will also handle employee inquiries, support benefits administration, and contribute to payroll audits and reporting.
What You'll Do: Maintain and update payroll-related records, including employee personal information and roster schedules.Assist in the preparation and maintenance of payroll spreadsheets, reports, and databases.Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll, leave, and timesheets.Provide support to employees in understanding their payslip, deductions, and leave.Facilitate the resolution of payroll-related issues by liaising with the payroll processing team or HR department as needed.What You'll Bring: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a payroll or related administrative role, preferably within the mining or industrial sector.Familiarity with payroll systems, timekeeping software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Good understanding of payroll compliance requirements and employment laws.Strong organizational and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and across departments.Why Whitehaven Coal?
