The Opportunity
StewartBrown is looking for a Payroll Audit Senior to join our team at StewartBrown.
This will suit a current Senior Auditor in external audit looking to specialise or use their audit skills in a new and interesting way!
You will be responsible for leading the team through payroll audits, developing audit plans, conducting thorough reviews of payroll processes, identifying potential risk and discrepancies, and implementing effective corrective actions.
You will collaborate closely with high cross-functional teams to optimise payroll processes, enhance internal controls and contribute to the overall efficiency and accuracy of our operations.
As an Audit Senior in the Payroll Team you will apply your skills from external audit to:
Conduct detailed audits of payroll records to identify compliance discrepancies, errors, wage underpayments and/or potential fraud Analyse payroll data and ensure compliance with company policies, and regulatory requirements Review and interpret multiple Industrial Awards and EBA applications Investigate and analyse payroll transactions Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, recommendations and corrective actions Understand the reporting requirements of different types of entities Prepare and review account reconciliations as appropriate Liaise with and support clients Conduct sample selections and tests of detail, extrapolation of errors Develop an understanding of client payroll systems.
What you can offer StewartBrown
The ideal candidate will have:
5 + years of external auditing experience Payroll and/or payroll audit experience or a desire to specialise in payroll audit and compliance Experience managing jobs and job budgets Experience supervising, supporting, and mentoring junior staff CA or CPA or equivalent qualification (strongly preferred) Working understanding of accounting, taxation, and finance concepts relating to payroll e.g.
: leave entitlements, allowances, superannuation, etc.
Strong knowledge of the application of Australian Accounting Standards (AASBs) and Australian Standards of Auditing (ASAs) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook A driver's license valid in Australia and ready access to a motor vehicle A work ethic that consistently demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and logical thinking in your approach to tasks Ability to build and maintain strong relationships within the client portfolio with quality, integrity, and clarity at the forefront of your approach and delivery An ongoing appetite and willingness to work with not-for-profit clients (previous experience with NFP is highly desirable) What StewartBrown can offer you
