Kestrel is one of the world's largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually.
Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process.
The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD.
Our team's capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation.
We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the role:We are passionate about supporting our people and are excited to announce a newly created opportunity for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our People Team.
Reporting directly to the Manager People & Culture, in this role you will be based on-site at Kestrel Mine and will have the flexibility of working either a Monday-to-Friday schedule or a 9-day fortnight.
This position is perfect for a detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in managing end-to-end payroll activities.

What's on Offer:Permanent role on a site with a long mine life.Work Life Balance – working Monday to Friday or a 9-day fortnight.Generous salary package with a competitive incentive structure.Salary sacrificing and salary packaging options.Generous Health Benefits including options for subsidised private health insurance.Working for an organisation that values their people and will invest in your future.In this role, you will support Kestrel by:Processing end-to-end monthly payroll activities for approximately 450 employees with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality.Serving as the central point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing exceptional customer service.Collaborating closely with the Brisbane-based Payroll Team and the People Team to ensure timely payroll processing.Ensuring payroll is processed accurately and in compliance with policies and regulations.Managing a high volume of administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.Understanding and ensuring compliance to relevant policies, procedures, legislation, Awards and Company Enterprise Agreements.Handling administrative responsibilities such as data entry, record-keeping, filing, and email management.Generating payroll and absenteeism reports, as well as creating weekly and monthly presentations with data and statistics.Completing general procurement tasks, including sourcing quotes, raising requisitions, and processing purchase orders.About you:Proven experience in a similar payroll-focused role with a solid understanding of payroll processes and practices.Strong understanding of modern awards and interpretation of Enterprise Agreements.Demonstrated ability to execute payroll tasks with accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality.Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.Strong customer service and communication skills, ensuring prompt and effective responses to enquiries and requests.High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with the capacity to learn new systems and software.A strong work ethic and a passion for continuous improvement.Proven ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.Experience with payroll systems (knowledge of SuccessFactors/SAP is highly regarded).This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where your expertise and dedication will make a meaningful impact.
