We've built a culture that celebrates community, collaboration and innovation, where people love what they do.What's the job?Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist's primary purpose is to provide exceptional customer experience to payroll customers by delivering timely and accurate fortnightly and monthly payroll.
This role provides ongoing support to the Senior Payroll Specialist to ensure all facets of the payroll function are delivered by managing customer queries, maintaining accurate employee data and reporting.This is a 6 month fixed term contract to start ASAP, with the view to make permanent.
Location preference Surry Hills however for the right candidate we will consider other locations across Australia.Day-to-day accountabilities:Take the lead and ownership on preparing and processing end-to-end fortnightly and monthly pay run with support from Senior Payroll Specialist.Ensure fortnightly and monthly pay run is as accurate as possible before being checked by the Senior Payroll Specialist and/or the Payroll Manager by performing self-checks i.e.
via audit reports, payroll reports.Calculate and process any ad-hoc payments as required: terminations, bonuses/commissions, and other additions/deductions.Calculate and process manual adjustments for back payments, including but not limited to, salary changes, higher duties, secondments and any other changes to employee payroll records.Have an understanding of STP reporting.Assist and train employees and managers on any ESS Timecard queries being their first point of contact and escalating to Senior Payroll Specialist where necessary.Respond to payroll queries and any ad-hoc payroll requests from internal and external customers.EOM HR reporting including New Starters, terminated employees, total headcount, annual leave balances.Assist Senior Payroll Specialist with financial and legislative reporting such as Superannuation, Payroll Tax, payroll/costing reconciliations.To be successful in this role, you will have:Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Professional suite with Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience in data analytics using Pivot tables, V-Lookups and Sum if.2-5 years of previous payroll experience.Previous experience using large payroll systems.Accurate data entry skills with high level of attention to detail.Ability to work autonomously and as part of the team.Previous experience with processing pay runs for 500+ employees minimum.Discretion and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.Self-motivated and driven.Shows initiative and has a go-getter attitude.Why join us?Bold, modern and agile, we're Australia's fastest-growing university, going from 164 students in 2014 to 40,000+ alumni across 115+ countries and 2000+ staff today.
