Remuneration: $35.98 Casual base hourly rate for PTOs $40.87 casual base hourly rate for ATAs
Employment Type: Casual - multiple positions

St John Ambulance (Vic) has been saving lives and delivering care and compassion throughout Victoria for 140 years. Our volunteers and staff are the lifeblood of everything we do. We are currently recruiting for Patient Transport Officers for casual shifts for our Ballarat branch. On call shifts will be available for candidates that live within 45 minutes of branches.

The Opportunity

As a Patient Transport Officer you will be engaged in the care and transport of non-emergency patients in accordance with St John Ambulance Patient Transport Quality Systems and other regulated standards. This includes driving patients in a St John Ambulance, performing patient assessment and intervention, providing clinical care and treatment during on-road transport, and engaging with your patients to offer calming and supportive patient care. This role requires compassion and a sense of community spirit while you deliver routine care and transportation for non-emergency patients to and from healthcare facilities, clinics and private residences. Rostered shifts are generally 8 to 10 hours in duration and at varied times throughout the day, seven days a week.

Key Responsibilities Care, direction and transport of low and medium acuity non-emergency patientsComply with organisation policies and proceduresWork as part of a team to delvier high quality patient transportEnsure vehicles and equipment are in working order and fit for purpose Maintain cleaniness and infection control through following procedures and regulationsContribute to a zero-harm working environment and cultureYour experience Minimum Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient transport (for PTOs)Valid & full Australian Driver Licence and safe driving recordPassion for providing safe patient care and transportationUnderstanding and ability of confidentiality requirementsAbility to work within a teamA clear Police check and Working With Children Check will be required.
