Patient Services Assistant Location: Alice Springs, NT Time Type: Part Time Posted On: Yesterday Time Left to Apply: End Date: November 4, 2024 (28 days left to apply) Job Requisition ID: R0133268 Role Definition Position Title: Office Patient Assistant (level 1) Reports to: Dialysis Clinic Manager Primary Purpose of the Role: Provide high quality reception and secretarial services to patients and staff at the clinic in a caring and supportive manner.Support the nursing staff in the dialysis clinic by performing non-clinical duties relating to direct and indirect patient care. Key Responsibilities General Administration Answer the switchboard in a courteous and professional manner.Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner.Perform general clerical and administrative tasks as required (e.g., filing, minute taking, agenda creation).Responsible for petty cash dispersal and reconciliation.Maintain levels of and order general office supplies.Manage bookings and maintain patient transport.Assist with the quality improvement program.Coordinate holiday patient enquiries and applications if required.Create and maintain patient newsletters.Other duties as assigned. Billing Administration Admit and discharge patients within a centralized billing system.Ensure necessary forms for new patients are completed and loaded into the billing system.Conduct eligibility checks on all new patients with their Private Health Fund.Prepare invoices and credit notes related to revenue generation.Prepare supporting documentation for invoices.Undertake banking procedures for cheque and cash payments.Maintain an accurate record management system of all patient records.Prepare and maintain reconciliation records. Patient Service: Ensure cleanliness and neatness of patient treatment areas, stockrooms, and medical devices as per clinic procedure.Assist with food preparation and delivery of nutritional requirements to patients and visitors.Maintain stock levels of consumables within the stockroom and trolleys as required.Manage ordering of all stock and consumables for the clinic's operation.Confirm delivery of stock and cross-check inventory with documentation.Maintain Clinical Manager database.Ensure routine collection and appropriate disposal of linen, rubbish, and contaminated waste.Coordinate collection of blood samples by pathology lab.Participate in Quality Assurance activities as required.Promote a safe, secure, and healthy working environment for staff and visitors.Engage in internal and external in-service activities to enhance skills and knowledge. Competencies Essential: 2 years experience in a similar role.Knowledge of Infection Control / Hygiene principles.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of Work Health and Safety principles.Understanding of Quality improvement processes and risk management obligations.Demonstrated skills in food preparation and presentation.Office skills, including filing and answering telephone enquiries.Completion of a Patient Service Assistant Certificate or equivalent qualification.Computer competence in MS Office.Excellent Customer Service skills.Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives.Ability to work with confidentiality, discretion, and maturity.
