The Student Pathways and Careers Division focuses on supporting our secondary schools to provide a consistent approach to engage, retain, and transition young people to employment, vocational learning, and higher education.
About the Role:
The Pathways Advisor ensures school leadership is well supported with strategies and initiatives so that every government secondary student can complete SACE and transition into a meaningful pathway. Through a Schools Support service, the Pathways Advisor works with Principals and school leaders to provide advice, guidance, and support leading to action planning and implementation of strategies and initiatives to improve retention, SACE completion, and transition outcomes of students.
In addition to a general advisory role supporting schools, the Pathways Advisor will build the capacity of colleagues and school staff to plan and embed Career Education and deliver quality pathway programs which align to policy and department, government, and state economic priorities to ensure schools are well positioned to support all student pathway outcomes. The Pathways Advisor will work with key stakeholders to develop and implement a broad range of career education initiatives to ensure young people are well equipped to get a head start into the workforce by commencing an identified post-school pathway while at school. The Pathways Advisor will be required to build strong expertise in all elements that provide successful student pathways, including the capacity to enhance colleagues' understanding of these elements.
The role will also support schools in maximizing the flexibility within the curriculum and the SACE to embed career education across all year levels. The incumbent may, on occasions, be required to support or teach curriculum and/or Career Education within Student Pathways and Careers' hosted programs as negotiated based on program needs.
Desirable Qualifications:
An appropriate qualification in an education-related field and/or equivalent experience, or a qualification in career development or a related field.
Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed, which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course, which will be required to be updated every three years.
