About Pathology Collection Department Austin Health Pathology provides service to not only Austin Health and the co-located Mercy Hospital for Women, but also to numerous GPs and Specialists in the metropolitan and regional community. We are committed to providing high quality patient care through routine and complex diagnostic services, expert advice and support for teaching and research.
About the role As the Pathology Collector, you will ensure the highest level of service at all times to our patients and clients, in both the hospital and outpatient settings. You will ensure specimen integrity is maintained and patient care is at the centre of everything you do.
A regular day will see you:
Collect samples (blood and non-blood) with care and attention Maintain meticulous records for every patient and sample Prepare and package specimens for transport and testing About you You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Phlebotomy or a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, Diploma of Nursing, or relevant experience High level of customer service, communication and empathy towards patients and clients Strong time management, interpersonal and organisational skills Confidence and ability to work autonomously and within a small team Flexibility in work additional hours (from time to time) to cover leave at other surrounding areas Working at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
