Under the guidance of the CSR Supervisor, develop and deliver training packages to staff in all aspects of Central Specimen Reception. To support the manager's strategic directions for Central Specimen Reception and act in the role as required. To supervise and direct the team on the day-to-day operation of central specimen reception.The Training Coordinator – Central Specimen Reception in Cairns Hospital Group Laboratory reports to the Manager – Specimen Reception.
The successful candidate will deliver training to staff within the work unit, and actively support staff to achieve their professional and organisational goals.
Key competencies (role specific criteria) You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Experience in pre-analytical processes, e.g. sorting, coding, data entry, aliquoting, parcel management, troubleshooting etc, in a large and complex specimen reception unit.Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.Better than average knowledge of a broad range of industry related computer-based software including Microsoft Office applications.Experience dealing with a variety of people and a high level of awareness of the impact the individual has on the overall customer experience.High level leadership skills and a demonstrated willingness to succeed and supervise cohesively with all-team members.Sound understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certificationThis is a modern laboratory with a positive culture and a high performing team. Excellent interpersonal skills, qualities of resilience, well-developed communication skills, ability to contribute positively to a team environment and to foster an environment where employees achieve success are essential. A requirement of this role will be to participate across a 24-hour shift roster from time to time depending on operational needs.Qualifications, registrations and other requirements Nil mandatory qualifications are required for this role. The ability to gain the following is desirable Certificate III Pathology (or similar), Certificate IV Laboratory Techniques and successful completion of Train the Trainer.The Cairns Laboratory delivers a 24 hour, 7-day service. In this workplace, all newly appointed Specimen Reception staff will be required to work all shifts which will include overnight and public holidays. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements in the Core Laboratory to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.Current Dangerous Goods Certification or the ability to acquire.Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.We understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed. All applicants are encouraged to advise the panel of any support or reasonable adjustments (i.e. building access, wheelchair access, interpreting services etc.) that may be required.Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirementsIt will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).Additional InformationPlease provide the following information to the panel to assess your suitability:
