Job DescriptionHammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly people living in their homes. As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church in the Newcastle and wider Hunter area.
Roles across Newcastle and Hunter region: Belmont, Boolaroo, Cardiff, Hamilton, Mayfield, Wallsend, Warners Bay, and surrounding areas. You'll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may: Support people to meet their spiritual needs.Skills required for this role: High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.Pastoral Care training, for example, Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or attendance at HammondCare pastoral care training - Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.Spiritual Care Series Online - 8 weeks (Zoom) Starts Thursday 24th October, concludes 12th December. We are an independent charity specialising in dementia. We're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need and we have a wonderful group of volunteers that make a difference in the lives of our residents. We'll provide training, as well as specific pastoral care training, Spiritual Care Series, along with ongoing support and invitations to social events.

Requirements18 years or olderNational Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCareWe'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one-hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
