To assist with the delivery of asset improvement, development, enhancement, renewal, and asset protection works within Hume's open space.
What you'll be doing:
Liaise with relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to internal and external parties for commercial and residential access requests regarding parks, reserves, and Hume open space access. Assist with the preparation of the Reserve Access Policy and procedures and implementation of policy and procedure actions. Provide written access approval permits and agreements inclusive of access use conditions. Identify potential sites for park asset renewal and enhancement projects across the municipality. Assist with the development of park asset renewal plans and estimate costing. Ensure that staff perform their duties and responsibilities effectively and possess comprehensive knowledge of the equipment they are required to use, including all safety protocols. Identify the training needs of the assigned parks staff required for them to carry out their duties and responsibilities. Administer and enforce the park's asset & environment protection principles, ensuring compliance with relevant local laws, codes of practice, permits, damage costs, and enforcement measures. Act in accordance with the responsibilities of a Council Authorised Officer. Assist with open space and park handovers regarding new capital project works and new subdivisional open space. Assist in the capture and maintenance of park asset data. The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:
Proven specialised skills in parks asset management, landscape construction, and park maintenance practices. Proven skills and experience supervising park asset maintenance staff and contractors. Ability to identify stakeholder needs and expectations, determine the appropriate action, and respond accordingly. Ability to gain cooperation and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with individuals from various backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated knowledge of horticultural, landscape construction, and asset protection practices in an open space context. Demonstrated ability to arrange necessary equipment and plant to carry out allotted tasks. Demonstrated experience in gathering performance indicators and conducting audits. Required Certifications & Qualifications:
The successful completion of a tertiary qualification in Horticulture/Landscape Construction or a closely related discipline and/or significant experience in open space asset management. Current Driver's Licence and Truck Driver's Licence (up to 22.4 Tonne GCM). Why Hume City Council?
