Flexible weekday hours, community-focused role Support sacraments, events, and administration Join a diverse, welcoming parish team Parish Secretary - Inala Location: Inala Parish Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM (30 hours per week) Position Summary: The Parish Secretary serves as the first point of contact for parishioners, providing administrative and organizational support to ensure the efficient operation of the parish.
This role includes sacramental coordination, office administration, and support for parish ministries, events, and liturgical activities.
Key Responsibilities: Parishioner and Sacramental Support Assist parishioners via phone, email, and in person.
Handle banking and cash responsibilities Administer sacramental programs (Baptism, Confirmation, Communion, Reconciliation, Marriage, Funerals).
Administrative Duties Manage supplies for church and office.
Maintain parish records, registers, and compliance (safeguarding, health & safety).
Prepare newsletters, mass sheets, and rosters for volunteers.
Oversee parish bookings and calendars.
Ministry and Event Support Support parish ministries, events, and liturgical celebrations.
Coordinate with volunteers for rosters and safeguarding requirements.
Property and Facility Management Manage maintenance and tenancy for parish properties, including Trocaire home units.
Administer columbarium sales and arrangements.
Communication and Meetings Prepare materials and minutes for parish meetings.
Communicate updates and announcements to parishioners.
Additional Duties Assist with petty cash and payment of invoices.
Support priests and volunteers with administrative tasks.
Skills and Qualifications: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Publisher.
Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
Experience in cash handling.
Ability to work with diverse cultural groups and individuals with varying levels of computer and language literacy.
Familiarity with Catholic liturgical practices and terminology is preferred.
Knowledge of safeguarding and workplace health & safety regulations.
Desirable Attributes: Compassionate and approachable manner.
Initiative and flexibility in managing multiple priorities.
Familiarity with or ability to learn database management tools (e.g., Flocknote).
