Parish Secretary Location: 47 Dornoch Terrace, West End
Hours: Permanent Part/Time – 20 hours a week
Working across both Parishes – St Mary's and St Ita's.

About the Role
Are you an organized, tech-savvy, detail-oriented individual? We're looking for a Parish Secretary to support both Dutton Park Catholic and St Mary's Catholic Parish with enthusiasm and efficiency. As our parish secretary, you'll be at the centre of our administrative needs, making sure everything runs smoothly and assisting in delivering our pastoral mission.
Key Responsibilities Office & Calendar Management: Schedule and set reminders for parish events, coordinate meetings, and organize the parish calendar. Sacramental Support: Assist with the preparation and organization of Sacraments, including Baptisms, Marriages, and Funerals, ensuring smooth, respectful ceremonies. Database & Communications: Proficiently use Microsoft Office and Flocknote to manage parish communications, update records, and maintain contact lists. Customer Service: Serve as the first point of contact, handling phone calls and emails with warmth and professionalism. Newsletter Creation: Draft the weekly parish newsletter with an eye for both grammatical accuracy and visual appeal. Invoicing & Financial Support: Generate and send invoices, track payments, and handle basic financial administration. Facilities Coordination: Liaise with contractors for parish maintenance, ensuring all repairs and routine upkeep are done on time. Skills and Experience Tech Competence: Proficient in Microsoft Office, familiar with Flocknote or other database systems, and capable of managing digital and print communications. Organizational Skills: Adept at multitasking, with the ability to set reminders, coordinate future events, and keep the parish office running efficiently. Pastoral Sensitivity: Experienced in handling delicate situations with compassion and professionalism, especially regarding sacramental preparation. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal skills; capable of drafting clear and engaging messages for the newsletter and other parish communications. Personal Qualities An understanding of Catholic traditions and values, with an appreciation for parish life. Warm, collaborative, and able to connect well with diverse parishioners and staff.
