About the department:
The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre (ONJ Centre) is committed to the wellbeing of people affected by cancer through health, education and research. The ONJ Centre is part of, and situated on, the campus of the Austin Hospital. The ONJ Centre provides comprehensive cancer treatment services, including medical oncology, clinical haematology, radiation oncology and wellness and supportive care programs, with strong links to the surgical oncology units, and one of Australia's largest cancer clinical trials centres.
The ONJ Centre also includes Palliative Care Services, providing specialist palliative care to patients with cancer and any other life limiting illness. This includes via a 24-bed specialist inpatient Palliative Care Unit, a Palliative Care Consultancy service to the acute inpatients of the Austin Hospital, a specialist Palliative Care Clinic, and Palliative Care community inreach services (with visits to patients' residence or residential aged care facility), and/or liaising with Community Palliative Care Service providers.
About the role:
The Palliative Care Registrar positions at Austin Health involve the care of inpatients in the Palliative Care Unit (PCU 8S), consultations on the Austin Hospital, Repatriation and Talbot campuses as required, and attendance at palliative care clinic.
