Position: Painting Trades Worker Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $75,000 plus superannuation per annum Location: Wallan VIC 3756 Our client is seeking an experienced Painter to join their team located in Wallan, Victoria.
Duties and Responsibilities: Estimate Materials: Measure surfaces or analyze job specifications and drawings to estimate the required quantity of materials for each project.
Setup: Set up and secure scaffolding, cradles, and ladders.
Utilize drop sheets to protect surrounding areas from paint drips and spills.
Protect Fixtures: Carefully remove and store fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, or electrical switch covers to prevent damage during the painting process.
Surface Preparation: Sand, scrape, or use chemical paint removers to remove old paint or finishes.
Repair and prepare surfaces by fixing woodwork, filling or sealing holes, cracks, and joints, and thoroughly cleaning to remove dust, dirt, and grease.
Priming: Apply primers or sealers to ensure proper paint adhesion and durability.
Mixing Paints: Select and mix paints to achieve the desired colors by adding tints or combining different shades.
Painting: Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using a variety of techniques, including brushing, rolling, or spraying, to achieve a professional and even finish.
Specialized Equipment: Utilize specialized equipment such as spray guns or airless sprayers to efficiently and effectively apply paint to large surfaces or hard-to-reach areas.
Decorative Finishes: Create unique and decorative paint finishes such as stencils, color glazes, graining, marbling, and lettering to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the painted surfaces.
Work Area Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area by regularly cleaning and properly storing equipment, disposing of waste materials, and ensuring the site is free of debris and hazards.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and clients to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, techniques, and safety protocols to continuously improve skills and maintain a safe working environment.
Tool Maintenance: Ensure all tools and equipment are cleaned after use and maintain a tidy workspace by removing all debris and waste materials promptly.
Hazard Mitigation: Identify and mitigate potential hazards on-site using appropriate safety equipment and protective gear to minimize risk.
Environmental Responsibility: Use environmentally friendly products where possible and dispose of paint and hazardous materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all workplace health and safety regulations, conduct regular safety checks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use PPE such as masks, gloves, and goggles to protect against harmful substances.
Incident Reporting: Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses to the supervisor immediately, maintain accurate records of all incidents, and follow the company's procedures for incident reporting and investigation.
Requirements: Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV in Painting Diploma level qualification would also be highly regarded Minimum of three (3) years of relevant painting experience Must have valid drivers licence.
