Manufacturing - Ballarat | Manufacturing/OperationsReports To: GM ManufacturingSummary:We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Paint Line Production Manager to oversee and optimise our paint line operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing high-volume paint lines within a large vehicle, truck, or trailer manufacturing environment. This role demands in-depth knowledge of painting processes, quality control procedures, and lean manufacturing principles.Responsibilities:Leadership and Management:Lead and mentor a team under experienced Paint Line Supervisors and a team of paint line technicians, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency.Oversee all aspects of the paint line production process, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets.Implement and enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations.Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and promote employee development.Process Optimization:Continuously analyze paint line performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.Introduce and implement lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in paint application and surface treatment.Quality Control:Develop and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to ensure that finished products meet or exceed customer expectations.Implement and oversee quality inspection processes at each stage of the paint line.Analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to address any deviations from standards.Maintenance and Troubleshooting:Collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure paint line equipment proper functioning and upkeep - These include state-of-the-art, large scale paint booths and automated blasting booths.Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and process issues, minimizing downtime and production disruptions.Implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment lifespan and reliability.Collaboration and Communication:Effectively communicate with other departments, including production planning, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless workflow and coordination.Prepare regular production reports, analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) and providing updates to management.Qualifications:Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Production Manager or Supervisor in a high-volume paint line environment within the vehicle, truck, or trailer manufacturing industry. Experience in a smaller shop environment is not suitable for this role.Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of paint application techniques, surface preparation methods, and quality control procedures. Familiarity with various paint types, coatings, and application equipment.Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of production technicians. Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.Quality Focus: Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and implementing effective quality control processes.Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address production challenges effectively.Lean Manufacturing: Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and experience implementing process improvement initiatives.Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures within a paint line environment.Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field is preferred.Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
